Invest in Yourself

Why is investing in yourself so important?

Investing in yourself is one of the best returns on investments you can have. Whether it’s investing in learning a new skill, developing yourself personally or professionally, tapping into your creativity or even hiring a coach.

You must first give to yourself, learn to love yourself, take the time and the responsibility to develop as a human, all our gifts and talents, so then we can be the best versions of ourselves.

How do I invest in myself? I don’t know where to start

With our busy lifestyles we tend to lead these days and the constant outside/social influences and expectations this can be difficult.

Let’s start with motivation

Motivation is hard to maintain, here are 10 tips to keep it going!

  1. Set goals and be specific!

Start with a goal – e.g. loose 10kgs or “tone up”. Then set a timeline to achieve this by, this keeps you accountable.

  1. Get an exercise training plan.

Whether you are a beginner or have been training for a while, make a plan! Write down your sessions, speak with a trainer or mentor, get as much advice as possible. (google is always helpful)

  1. Be careful of overtraining.

Don’t overdo it! Listen to your body, if you are feeling sore, tired or run down, REST & RECOVER!

  1. Adopt exercise role models.

This explains itself, choose your favourite influencer, print out pictures, quotes, stick them around your house, at your workplace anywhere that you will see them. Social media – Start filling your feed with positive people with similar interest and goals.

  1. Record your progress.

Keep track of how far you’ve come, sometimes you forget to pause and take a look at what you have already achieved, be proud!

  1. Cross-train.

Change it up! Try something new, be spicy!

  1. Go shopping.

Let’s get real, who doesn’t feel good in new activewear?! Treat yourself – You deserve it.

  1. Have a treat.

Remember to slip in a treat once a week, try not to completely cut out your favourites.

  1. Track yourself with technology or app.

There are so many cool devices to track yourself with, a watch, or an app on your phone.

  1. Visualise!

Remember to see yourself, your best self, crossing that line and smashing your goal! Believe in yourself and you can achieve anything!

Fuel Your Body

Fuelling your body isn’t just nutrition/dieting, although a good diet filled with yummy, nutrient-rich, vitamins galore can make the world of difference.

Eat right each day, when you focus on eating organic and healthier choices, you will feel better – it’s proven, and you’ll have more energy! Who doesn’t want that?

If you’re like me, that yummy looking burger or doughnuts (doughnuts are my weakness) you’ll have that instant gratification, but left feeling guilty. Schedule that cheat day in so you’re not missing out!

What you read, what you listen to, what you watch, who you surround yourself with. These are all examples of “fuel”.

Train your mind, challenge yourself, unsure about something? Educate yourself. Read that book, read that article, watch that documentary, attend that seminar or workshop.

Instead of listening to the repetitive radio stations or that same playlist, listen to a podcast! Or an audiobook. Spice it up!

It’s important who you let into your circle, your sanctuary. You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.

To start making the changes you would like and becoming the new and improved version of yourself, you must have a strong NO! Say no to the things that do not serve you, that do not help you reach that goal. In saying that you must have a strong YES! Say yes to the things that you want, that fill your cup. Trust me you will notice the difference!

Time

Use your time wisely, time is valuable, it is free, but it is priceless. You can’t own, it but you can use it, you can’t keep it, but you can spend it, and once you have used it or lost it, you can never get it back.

Time is precious, never waste a second and use your time wisely! Do things that make you happy, that improve your worth, your net value, fill up your cup!
