Meet Charlestown’s latest More Than a Number, Clare!

Status
Make up artist & skincare consultant.

Have you always been involved in fitness or exercise?
Yes! I’ve always loved being active no matter what age I was. Beach walks down at Dudley Beach were my favourite when I was a kid. I’ve been training at gyms for the past 4 years.

Did you have a goal when you first joined Planet Fitness?
My goal was to only focus on bettering myself and my body, once you see results it’s extra determination.

Have you achieved what you originally set out to do?
I’m well on my way, building more lean muscle is my goal. Possibly another comp in the future, we’ll see.

What was your perception of gyms/health clubs before you joined? Has it changed after joining Planet Fitness?
Being honest, I’ve always loved going to the gym, but Planet Fitness is my second home. I think it is a special club.

What are your fitness goals for the future?
To see how sculpted I can get whilst still looking feminine, being happy and healthy, or turn into Lauren Simpson.

Biggest obstacles you have had to overcome on your fitness journey?
Learning to deal with self doubt, counting calories was a big one, taking my food very seriously. It’s about balance, once you start seeing results you can ignore the doubt a lot better.

Do you have sources of inspiration? If so what are they?
Lauren Simpson. Also my old self, sounds lame but true, I train for me and to be better.

What is your weekly fitness regime?
I was very structured with what I would train for, how many reps etc. Now I train what I feel like, I listen to my body and go from there. I mostly weight train, but I do love high intensity cardio a lot more.

Favourite quote?
“Leave footprints of love and kindness wherever you go.”
