Meet Lambton’s More Than a Number, Laura!
Business owner at Level Up Development, Support Coordinator to NDIS participants.
Have you always been involved in fitness or exercise?
Not always, since having my daughter coming up to 9 years ago, I found my passion for everything health and fitness. I truly enjoy being active and challenging myself and my body.
What brought you to Planet Fitness?
I started my journey at a gym in Bathurst, when I moved back home to Newcastle I found Planet Fitness. I have moved away for work multiple times but I always come back to Planet.
Did you have a goal when you first joined Planet Fitness?
When I first joined Planet I just wanted muscle and lots of it. That was my goal and to build on that one day to step on stage as a bodybuilder.
Have you achieved what you originally set out to do?
I have, I am currently in preparation for two bodybuilding competitions in September and October which is an exciting time for me.
What was your perception of gyms/health clubs before you joined? Has it changed after joining Planet Fitness?
I always found most gyms to be supportive places where people of all levels can come together, and I’ve found that to be true at Planet. It’s a space I feel comfortable to be myself in and have made beautiful connections and friendships.
What are your fitness goals for the future?
My fitness goals for the future would be to compete again in 2020 and remain fit and healthy.
Biggest obstacles you have had to overcome on your fitness journey?
I think the mental side of training can be hard at times. It’s those times you need to push harder when you don’t feel like going is when you absolutely need to. They are some of the best sessions.
What is your weekly fitness regime?
I do weight training and cardio six times a week, and HIIT three times a week. On Sundays, I try to rest.
“Let your observation take precedence over your perception.”
