Meet Belmont’s More Than a Number, Luke!

Status
Full time Team Leader

Have you always been involved in fitness or exercise?
No I have not, I used to hate anything physical and sports.

If no, what brought you to Planet Fitness?
When I was 22 I was having health and weight problems. I was sick of being unhappy with myself. One of my good friends tried for a good 12 months to get me to join a gym. Finally she talked me into joining up. It has been a permanent fixture in my life since then and I have never looked back!

Did you have a goal when you first joined Planet Fitness?
I wanted to create a Healthier and Happier version of myself.

Have you achieved what you originally set out to do?
My goals have really morphed over time. Initially it was all about dropping the kg’s because I thought thin = happy. I got thin and I felt uncomfortable. So now it’s all about me trying to keep myself somewhere in the middle.

What was your perception of gyms/health clubs before you joined? Has it changed after joining Planet Fitness?
Before joining PF I was intimidated about coming to the gym, that everyone would laugh at me and I would feel really out of place. My perception has really changed about being a community of people working towards their own goals.

What are your fitness goals for the future?
I would like to keep myself healthy and happy so I can enjoy the good things in life. Second goal is to be MASSIVE like Jack.

Biggest obstacles you have had to overcome on your fitness journey?
My love of everything sweet, balancing ever changing work locations/hours and my fear of what other people might have thought of me. But mainly the sugar thing.

Do you have any sources of inspiration? If so, who/what are they?
I follow plenty of Fitness pages on Instagram and look to them for inspiration and motivation. Also Jack & James. Huge.

What is your weekly fitness regime?
Monday to Friday 1.5hrs before work. I usually try to train one day on the weekends and be super lazy the other day.
